The Intellectual Property Office was created on the 1st December, 1997 (Section 3 of the Patents Act, 1996) and is situated at 3rd Floor, Capital Plaza, 11-13 Frederick Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad. A department within the Office of the Attorney General and Ministry of Legal Affairs, the department is the local government agency responsible for handling the registration of intellectual property rights.
